For the first time ever, Oakley has entered the ski helmet market, and just as we expected, they did it in style.

Just like virtually every other product that rolls off Oakley’s production line, the helmet looks stylish, but where it really stands out from the crowd is in the level of protection and its high level of comfort.

The MOD 3 helmet features an In-Mold shell that provides excellent protection, while the construction ensures that the helmet weighs less than most other helmets. In addition, Oakley has incorporated extra protection in the areas where research has shown that the head is most likely to sustain injury in the event of a crash.

The helmet is also equipped with groundbreaking MIPS technology, which, in the event of a crash, allows the outer shell to move more than the inner components, thereby absorbing much more of the impact than any traditionally constructed helmet would have.

The Modular Brim System (MBS) lets you easily swap out the helmet’s “brim” so it always fits your goggles, whether they’re narrow or wide. This also makes the helmet ideal if you decide to replace your ski goggles at a later date. The ventilation isn’t adjustable, but it works seamlessly with your goggles to provide perfect airflow, so you can keep your head cool in all kinds of weather.

The BOA system lets you adjust the fit so the helmet always sits perfectly on your head. Simply turn a dial located at the back of the neck, and the liner adjusts 270 degrees around your head. The helmet also features removable ear flaps, and the chin strap can be locked and unlocked with one hand thanks to the super-smart magnetic system.
